Prof. Kim brings an extraordinary legacy to Breakdown Bio. In 2001, he co-founded Plexxikon, a biotech firm that developed two FDA-approved drugs and was acquired by Daiichi Sankyo in 2011 for $935 million, showcasing his ability to bridge cutting-edge science with commercial success. His expertise in structural biology and entrepreneurial achievements align seamlessly with Breakdown Bio’s mission to redefine biotechnology innovation.

A distinguished scientist, Prof. Kim was the first to report the 3D structure of transfer RNA, a landmark discovery in molecular biology. His groundbreaking work in computational genomics has also set industry benchmarks. With honors including membership in the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, a Guggenheim Fellowship, a Fulbright Fellowship, and the E.O.
